Lezim Folk Dance
The Maratha community has expressed strong objection to the ‘Lezim Folk Dance’ in the film ‘Chhava’ based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Introduction: Lezim (Lezhim) or Laziam is a major folk dance of Maharashtra state. It is also called ‘Lezium Dance’.
Naming: Lezim is a small musical instrument with a thin metal disc attached to it which produces sound with a chime. Dancers use it while performing classical dance. This dance style is named after this musical instrument.
