Green amethyst was discovered in the early 1800s in Silesia, which is a region mainly located in Poland, with some of its parts in Germany and the Czech Republic. The Polish Green Amethyst specimens were mostly olive-green in color, and they often formed the external layers of geodes, with agate forming their inner layers. A fun fact: one of the most important mines of green amethyst is located in the Four Peaks area of east and northeast Arizona. This mine is called the Four Peaks Mine.
